Big Record about to Fall
Nathan Leys is only a few points away from breaking both and Roosevelt and Iowa all time NFL points record. This weekend, at George Mason University, Leys will surpass former Roosevelt students Amelia Martin, Tess Yocom and Billy Strong to become Iowa's top NFL point earner. Leys, a senior, will clear the 3,000 point mark this weekend-no small accomplishment. He remains ranked 2nd in the country in total points earned in his career. Unfortunately he probably can't catch Allison McKibbon of Kansas who has the nation's lead by nearly 700 points over Leys. But Nathan remains on track to be in the Top 25 at the end of the season and a High School Speech and Debate All American. Leys' record is pretty incredible but so were the other Roosevelt students who's point production was limited under a different set of point rules. A formula is used to equalize today's students vs. students who were calculated under the old set of rules. Leys will exceed those calculations and the 3,000 point mark in the Mason Extemp Round Robin about 8:30 Friday am Central Time. Congratulations to Nathan Leys.
