Parents Request from Beth Flannery

From: Beth Flannery, senior debate student parent

To: Roosevelt Debate Families

We are looking for a few good people that can be on the planning team for the Roosevelt debate tournament concessions and judges lounge food. Deb Chido I have worked with this for the last three years. This is our last year, and we are ready "to pass on the torch." Right now we have a few people that are willing to work on this but we would like some more. It is a huge undertaking. Each tournament takes many hours of planning, shopping, serving to 200 to 400 people serveral meals and clean up. But it is fun and the more people working together the lighter the load will be for each individual person.

This year’s tournaments are:

October 22 – 23 ( Friday and Saturday) – Roosevelt Tournament

December 10 – 12 ( Friday – Sunday) -- Co-hosting Dowling Paradigm.

January 21 – 22 (Friday – Saturday) --- Roosevelt Tournament

These tournaments are important to the team. They raise some money to help pay expenses and have helped develop a very good reputation for the team.

We need help with menu planning, purchasing supplies, asking for food donations from parents and businesses, lining up volunteers, and working during the tournaments. You don’t have to available on all the days or for all of the tournaments to be on the planning team.

Please contact me, Beth Flannery at b.ndesigns@yahoo.com or 314-1022, if you are willing to join the planning team. We are planning a meeting on Saturday, October 9 at 9:00 a.m.

In a few days a volunteer schedule for October 22 – 23 tournament will be sent out so people can sign up to help with shifts for working the concessions and judges lounge.

Have a good week

Beth Flannery
