- First Practice: Thursday August 25, 3-6pm. Location : TBD Please bring anyone interested in joining speech and debate. Tournament/Travel Schedules will be given out on 8/25 at the first team meeting.
- "Last Year Fees" - if your student has fees that are carrying over from last year please either pay those fees or make a payment on them.
- NEW IC Credit Limit -- There will be a limit this year as to how much a student can have on "credit" - $600. That amount generally covers two local tournaments and two away tournaments. If a student has more than $600 on their IC in debate fees they will not be registered for any additional tournaments until they are at or under $600. If a student feels they need an exception to this policy they can schedule a meeting with the bookkeeper and Mrs. McCool to request one. Mr. Biggs and I don't want to keep students from debating, but we also must be financially responsible.
- Varsity Debaters: Your first tournament is Valley which is the weekend of September 24-26. Only Policy and Public Forum are offered at this tournament. If you want to compete you'll need to "sign up" on Tuesday August 30 (during our first Tuesday back). Price at this time is TBA but it will be at a minimum $50 per policy debater and $30 per PF debater -- additional costs depend on student interest and hired judging needs. - Parents Meeting: We'll hold a parents meeting early in September - likely on a Tuesday or Thursday. I'm still working with the building coordinator to schedule a time and a location to hold that meeting.
