Hello Roosevelt Speech and Debate!
First - congrats to Jacob Thompson and Danny Drane for placing first and third respectively in the Congressional House this weekend at the Congress qualifier in Carroll, IA. As a result of other students qualifying in other events Jacob now gets to go to Nationals in Extemp!
Second - this weekend the district executive committee announce who had been selected to represent West Iowa on the district World Schools Debate team. Our very own Claire Wallace made the team. Serving with four other students from other schools, they will represent us at Nationals in Dallas this summer.
Third - We have one last "regular season" tournament and it is this weekend in Iowa City -- it is a JV/Novice only tournament. Most of our team does not fit into that category but we are sending three pairs of students to compete -- and have high hopes for their success. If your student is attending this tournament please ask them about travel plans after they attend practice on Monday.
Fourth - we will have a couple of parents' meetings in April. We'll discuss attending camp, traveling to nationals, etc. Please also be on the look out for the dates of those meetings.
