Info Sheet from 12/4

Note to parents and guardians:
Students who attended the required meeting on Thursday December 4 were given a handout that included all of the following information:

Paradigm Tournament Information

1.       All students are required to work at the Paradigm Tournament on 12/12 and 12/13.

2.       All families are asked to:  1. Donate Sodas, 2. Donate TWO DOZEN baked goods, 3. Sign up for a volunteer spot.

3.       If a family cannot donate or volunteer time the student needs to speak to Mrs. McCool in person.

4.       If a team member does not contribute to the Paradigm Tournament (and does not speak to Mrs. McCool about not doing so) they will have a $35 fee added to their next tournament entry fee.

5.       Students must wear some kind of TRHS apparel. Tournavelt Shirts are okay, but we’d prefer something that says ROOSEVELT.

Lincoln Tournament Information

1.       Friday December 19^th Events: LD and IEs.

a.       Be at Lincoln High by 3:30p – no transportation provided. Awards at 9:45pm.

2.       Saturday December 20^th Events: Congress, CX, and PF.

a.       Be at Lincoln High by 7:30a – no transportation provided. Awards at 4:30pm.

3.       Entry Fee: NO COST for students who work the Paradigm ($35 if you do not)

4.       Students are not allowed to leave the building to get food or to have food delivered.
Please bring cash to purchase food at the tournament.

5.       Judges for IE’s and PF are needed. Please ask your parents!

Post- Holiday Break Tournament Info

1.       IHSSA State Debate – January 9 & 10

a.       Must sign up and pay by December 19^th

b.      Entry Fees: 35.00 per person

c.       Judges Needed in All Events

d.      Students must provide their own transportation to DMACC Ankeny.

2.       Chanhassen High School Speech (Speech ONLY)– January 24

a.       Must sign up and pay by January 6^th

b.      Entry Fees - $ 20 per event + Transportation Cost (determined by # of ppl. attending)

c.       Judges Needed in All Events

d.      Planning to rent mini-vans and drive up and back in the same day – need parents to drive.

3.       Marshall (Formerly Known as Schwann’s) – January 30 & 31

a.       Speech Only

Others!

1.       Holiday Party @ Claire’s House, December 14, 6:30pm to 9:30pm – Bring a gift for the gift exchange!

2.       DMPDI shirts have been ordered and will arrive before the Paradigm.
Students who attended DMPDI may wear these shirts during the Paradigm if they so choose.

3.       Middle School Debate is starting next semester – we need people to visit both Merrill and Callanan to recruit.

4.       The Roosevelt Round Up is in February. Be ready to make debate/speech the most appealing club at TRHS!

5.       Time to start thinking about attending camp this summer. If you’re interested talk to your coach. Some camps are better values than others – some camps may sound great but aren’t as good as others.
