Novice Nationals Travel Assignments

Here are the travel plans for Iowa City West High School and Novice Nationals.  Students will travel by car and a list of assignments is below.  All cars EXCEPT Kelly Lawler leave from Roosevelt in the North parking lot following the second block of the day.  If your second block of the day is at Central, hop the bus to Roosevelt and find us in the North parking lot.  If you don't know which is the North lot--it is the staff lot along Chamberlain Street. 

When you come to school on Friday bring your luggage with you--we are not driving to your house to get your luggage!!  You may leave it in your locker, in the Athletics office in the 1300 wing, or, if you can get my room unlocked-you can leave it in 2230.

When your are done with second block, get to Roosevelt, get your luggage and get to the cars!
We will stop for lunch in Newton at Culver's.  Then we will check in judges at the hotels and then drive to Iowa CityWest High School.

Rice's:  Rice, Chasse, Cummings and Tonelli
Leys:  R. Anderson, Drane, Ingle and N Leys
Barcus:  Kitchen, Soe, Rutledge, C Vu, A Anderson
Strong:  Pilcher, Wade, Weddle, Wang, Nellans

Parents note:  Students were given permission slips today at team meeting or you can print off the blog under parent resources.

Students need cash for Friday lunch, Friday dinner, Saturday lunch and Saturday dinner.  On this trip (if it works out) we stop at the Ox Yoke Inn for dinner (tradition).  So plan on about $20 for dinner.  it will likely be a bit less than that but be prepared.

Cars and drivers might be different on the return trip should we have late rounds.  We could also catch a Sunday early am round in policy if we are so fortunate.  In that case, students will be staying with a coach on Saturday night.  Right now parents should plan on picking up students around ten pm on Saturday night from the North parking lot.  Coaches do not deliver students to their houses--a parent needs to pick up!  We will have kids call and confirm pick up times once we are on the road after dinner.  Please do not be late picking up our student!  It only extends a long weekend for coaches.

Parent judges:  We are putting you up at one of two hotels in Iowa City:  The Residence Inn by the Mall or the Marriott.  We couldn't find inexpensive rooms all together at one location.  So at the moment we will plan that Strong, Lawler and Rice will be in the Marriott.  Leys, Courard-Hauri and Barcus in the Residence Inn.  You will not be judging a lot at all so bring a book to read or some paperwork to do.
