First of all THANK YOU to Madi Holmes for hosting the Debate Holiday Party again this year. Madi and some speech and debate "elfs" did a fantastic job hosting. It was a great turnout considering the weather. Thank you all for helping Madi host. And a special thanks to Madi's parents for sharing their homes for hosting events this season!
Secondly thank you to the parents who contributed to the fund raising effort. I am pleased to report that as of last Friday evening, our goal was met and between the matching gift, the project and parents gifts--$4500 was raised.
We will still need to raise about $5000 more this season because of the extra expenses with an out of town National Qualifier and a speech coach on staff. But we will figure that out as the second semester rolls on. We have a couple of parents who usually make a contribution in the Spring of each year which helps a lot!
It has been an exciting first semester to say the least. But a young team is growing up and I believe Roosevelt will play some key roles at IHSSA state and All Iowa Finals in March.
