Early Wake Results

Full results will be posted in the next few days as students and Coach Strong return from the Wake Forest tournament, but we do have some early season results that are very encouraging.  Roosevelt is guaranteed a top 6 finish in sweeps, and has 5 finalists.  Senior Nathan Leys and Junior Lily Nellans both finaled in extemp and oratory.  Nathan also finaled in impromptu.  Usually in high school forensics it is rare for a student in speech or debate to have more than one final at a major national tournament.  In fact, most national circuit tournaments it is difficult if not impossible due to rules to enter more than one event.  For someone to final in two events in speech, especially very different categories like extemp and oratory is incredible (especially the first tournament of the year), and for someone to final in three speech events at a national level tournament is almost unheard of.  Kudos to these students for a brilliant start to the season!
