There are two articles on Stand your Ground that were in our extemp files worthy of reading....they have been filed under "SYG-HWS" and SYG-Cali-hs" in the pf folders for nationals.
Scrimmages will be Sat and Sunday so please have something ready to go. It is important that everyone scrimmages and knows how their cases will work or not work in round. I am not trying to get winners in scrimmages--I am tryig to get all of you comfortable with your thoughts and give you a week to fix the issues.
You need to know the true man interpretation of SYG (the California story) and that California has had a SYG interpretation for over 150 years. This stuff is not new to law in the US--the only thing new is that more states have adopted the SYG legislation and it is in the news because of the RACIAL implications for Treyvon Martin in Florida.
Someone is going to ask you if you can prove that self defense killings have gone up since more states have adopted the law...yes...but what they miss is that you can't document the lives saved because of the law.
So we need an answer to that question.
