If you haven't heard this bit of news--it is really exciting.
Last week Becky Hall committed verbally to compete next season for the nation's top ranked college forensics program--Western Kentucky University.
The announcement was held until Becky's Mom returned from Haiti yesterday and gave her blessing to the decision. Becky will be receiving a full academic scholarship, an honor's college opportunity, and far more. She is the 7th of our students to make a commitment to compete in college. Becky was recruited for LD debate and extemp. (LD debate in college is far different from high school).
There will be a formal signing ceremony soon in the Roosevelt library. When we make the announcement of the time and date--it is important that all team members attend. In addition to the signing we will be taking for formal picture of the team for IHSSA to print in their 2013 calendar as state champions. Most likely we will use a Wednesday at one pm for the signing. We are waiting for a date from Roosevelt and the formal commitment letter from WKU.
Becky choose Western Kentucky after regretting opportunities to compete for George Mason and Gustavus Adolphus.
This is a big moment for both Becky and the Roosevelt program! Congratulations to Becky!!!!!

If you wish to compete in college be sure to speak with coaches about your desires. We have had a great deal of success in working with both families and colleges trying to find the right situation for our students. The sooner we know of your wishes (during your junior season is ideal) the better we are able to do what we need to do to help you in the search. Competing in college is a job--a lot of work. But those who have done it have all said it has been worth the effort.
