PARENTS CAMP MEETING JAN 17TH

Dear Parents:  If you fall into one of these categories--please, please attend the summer camp meeting hosted by our senior co-captains on January 17th (Monday evening) 6:30pm in our new room (#2300) at Roosevelt:

1).  Parent of a freshman or novice student
2).  Parent of a student who wants to attend a summer camp
3).  Parent of a student who you think is not making progress and needs a bit of help

The camp meeting will include some thoughts from students who attend a summer speech or debate camp on what it did for them both from a competitive and a personal growth point of view.  Comments from coaches as to which camps are appropriate for our kids and why we have a preference to those camps.  Finally some thoughts from coaches on which camps are just NOT for our kids and why.  There are a lot of camp choices out there.  Last year our students attended:  (EX) Mason; (EX,HI) Gustavus; (LD) NDF in Boston and a camp in Minnesota; (CX) Northwestern.

Our goal is not to limit camp choices but provide direction for maximum gain and fun.  Each year we average somewhere around 15 students at camp.  Historically those become the students that start rising toward the top of the team in talent.  But that isn't always true.  One does not have to attend a debate camp to be successful in what we do--but it sure can help.

So spending an hour to an hour an a half with us on the 17th isn't a huge investment of time but we will try to get as many questions answered as possible about camps and allow you plenty of time to begin putting down deposits and payments without breaking the budget!

Hope to see you here on the 17th!!!!!
