We are hosting next weekend and a host of issues are springing up because of the SIZE of the tournament. This will take all of our resources to pull off....this is easily the largest non Dowling event we have hosted and it should make us a LOT of cash--so this is very good news. Over 20 schools have signed up...all divisions are viable except maybe Varsity Policy but I hear that will fill up as well.
We even added a novice public forum division and it has filled up nicely. We may allow a few of our students to compete to fill out fields.
So parents and available students: We need concession help, ballot runners, judges, home hosts for Okoboji and who knows what else? First of all, at least 6 students said parents would be willing to offer an overnight to the Okoboji kids. We use student housing when we travel and Okoboji has a real problem in that a new superintendent wants to cut the program. So they have to lower expenses--so we are helping them out. PLEASE HOME HOST AND CALL ME SOON THAT YOU CAN TAKE A COUPLE OF STUDENTS. You will have to feed them something Friday night, provide a bed and bring them to Roosevelt on early Saturday! Home hosting is a huge help and not a big deal overall.
