As you may have noticed, the Roosevelt Extemp folder is filling up pretty quickly. It's almost 2gb and over 4000 articles. Which is really good. Except that free dropbox accounts are only 2gb and we figured people will probably want to have articles after October. Fortunately we have a solution! IF YOU HAVE ROOSEVELT EXTEMP ACCESS UNDER YOUR OWN ACCOUNT, NOT ridersdebate@gmail.com, here is what you need to do.
(Note: If you use dropbox for other things, not just speech & debate, you're probably just going to have to pay the $10/month to buy more space. We can't have random people's music/photos in the dropbox.)
1) Deinstall dropbox from your computer. Don't just delete the folders - you have to go into your computer menu and deinstall the entire program.
2) Go to www.dropbox.com and log in as ridersdebate@gmail.com. The password is "ridebate", same as the blog.
3) Select "download dropbox." The program itself is like 15mb, it should download in under a minute. While using the installation wizard, you'll see an option to either install "recommended" or selective setup something. The second option will say something about selecting which folders you want to install. USE THE SECOND OPTION. Go through and select (for example) Roosevelt Extemp, Roosevelt PF, Roosevelt Congress, whichever events you do. Finish installation.
4) Dropbox will initially be empty because you've only installed the program, not the 4000 articles in the folder. What you need to do is leave your computer ON overnight, plugged in, and with a stable internet connection. Make sure the settings aren't to go to sleep after a few minutes. This will allow dropbox to update itself over the course of 4-ish hours, depending on your internet. By morning it should be good to go. (Hint: If you have an ethernet connection, use that instead of wifi. It'll go much faster.)
This will work because the team dropbox account has roughly twice as much space as the regular free account, because we get a bonus of 250mb everytime we invite someone to the folders. Once we fill up that 4.5gb, we only have to pay ONCE for 50gb of space, which we'd have to have basically the Library of Congress in PDF format to fill. This is a lot cheaper and a lot easier.
