Congratulations to Tess Yocom (2011)

The revised Century Society Report from the NFL was posted today and Tess Yocom's total of 2285 points (the TRHS gross point record) is 95th in the nation on the All Time Top Leaders List.  Tess replaces 2008 alum Billy Strong who was on the list for 3 seasons.  The NFL changed the point rules in 2010-11 allowing students to amass all the points they earn--not have them capped at a level as in previous years.  The new system more accurately defines student achievement.  Congratulations to alum Tess Yocom!

For those who did not know Tess, her record is an amazing testament to sticking with something even though it might have been a challenge and you didn't "win" your first few years.  Tess competed in every single event in the NFL save policy debate.  She became the "jack of all trades" in our program and as a result had many outstanding opportunities.  She was mostly an interp speaker and PF/Congress student.  She set an example of hard work and dedication.  When you are struggling (and everyone does) remember Tess and those like her in the years before you.  Know that you can do it but give yourself the grace of patience to succeed!
