It was an interesting weekend in Iowa City. We had some chances in PF and LD but it was our policy team that made some noise! Policy earned their first out rounds of the season losing in quarters to Omaha Westside. Congratulations to Nathan Leys and Andy Troxell. It was not an easy field. They even had to survive a round which was judged in 1963. A very strange judge indeed from Wisconsin.
Bad luck doomed us to not breaking in PF. If you hear some kids whining about judges--they have a reason to be complaining. Still I was impressed with the way they fought back on Saturday. Our teams were the first two teams left out of quarters finishing 9th and 10th.
Madi Holmes was the tournament's 10th best speaker.
In LD Nick has a huge opportunity to advance taking a 3-2 record into a bubble round but dropped the decision. Still he posted a couple of very nice wins along the way.
So please congratulate all of our novices on a great job. All enjoyed pickled ham in the Amana's on the way back! No Roosevelt novice posted less than a .500 record.
I've had two phone calls today congratulating our policy team from Iowa coaches. Good job!
