The weather forecast is forcing a change in our plans. We are trying not to change our departure time so this is the change: Bring someting to eat and drink with you on the bus as we will not likely stop for lunch in route. That buys us some extra travel time in the event of snow. The forecast is for an inch or two of snow possible in NW Iowa on Friday. Then the forecast is cold--bring a coat.
Next: You are being excused at Roosevelt after Rider Time and Downtown at the end of 2nd hour. Be sure of your ride situation--who you are meeting and where. This bus cannot wait for miscues. Roosevelt student are to assemble their luggage and tubs in the NW door lobby facing Chamberlain after Rider Time. You must be quiet!!! Dowling is promising the bus at RHS no later than 10:30 and maybe earlier...we must get loaded quickly and hit the road. BE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR CASES AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU NEED.
Finally, bring homework or a book to read as those who are eliminated early will find themselves with a long day Saturday waiting around. This is a good time to get caught up on school work so bring it.
Traveling with THRS are 20 students, 3 coaches (inlcuding Sam Fairfield) and two judges. There will not be single benches for anyone and if there is a single bench, it first goes to coaches.
Dowling is bring a slightly larger group and there are only 57 seats on the bus.
Hotel comments: More than any other trip--be quiet--respect your teammates who are trying to get to nationals. This tournamentis is grueling and exhausting for your coaches. We will be tired Friday night and don't want to deal with noise, goofing around etc.
Finally, remember to respect everyone by not scouting, taking in rounds until finals, not talking about other team's cases and the like. Nate and I do not want to have to face the tournament committee on an ethics issue! Thank you!!!!
