We all know that Sam and Billy have set the all time Roosevelt record for most earned National Forensic League points but there is more:
1). The current District and State standings won't be updated until the 3rd week in July. However, it is a very close race between Sam, Billy and Billy Hamilton for the best in Iowa this season. Nall appears 4th anyway you cut the projections.
2). Jon Quinn appears to hold the All-Time Iowa Record of points. The All-Time record currently reads:
Quinn Dowling 1888 2006
Hamilton Valley 1871 2007
Morgan Valley 1853 2006
Kamentzky Bettendorf 1807 2006
Blaser, T Bettendorf 1772 2006
So where will Sam Fairfield be on the all time list?...Sam and Bill Strong will probably come in around 1865-1880 in points. So they probably won't nip Jon Quinn. Next year, that will very likely change and a Roosevelt student will have the All Time Iowa points record. There is another candidate coming through the system who could get his name on the All Time list as well from Dowling: Spencer Sheaff.
Coach Sheaff of Dowling was remarkably familiar with this situation when I spoke to him yesterday. He believes there was a debater from Muscatine or Burlington who may well be on this list from about 5-6 years ago. We are trying to find that record from the Eastern Iowa District. In the meantime, this is what we believe to be correct.
