Housekeeping

A few items on the agenda tonight--the practice schedule is Monday/Tuesday/Thursday from 2:45-5:45, and team meetings on Wednesdays from 1:15-2 and practice from 2-4 afterwards. Practices on Mondays  and Thursdays will be in the library, and practices on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be in classrooms that have not yet been determined. This week, practice is only confirmed for Monday and Thursday, pending the aforementioned rooms being determined, so I will be tentatively moving the team meeting to Thursday at 2:45 unless the room assignment situation is figured out prior to Wednesday. The only mandatory practice is whichever day the team meeting falls on (after this week it will always be on Wednesday unless otherwise announced). I have no problems with students bringing their homework to do at practice, and I don't expect every student to be at every practice for 3 hours--I know you all have busy schedules with school and other extracurricular activities! The practice schedule is simply when I plan to be in the building so that kids can come in to practice if they want. Chase, Anne, and Mollie won't be available for all of these practices, so if you would like to work with one of them individually contact either them or myself and we will arrange for that to happen.

Additionally, we're sending 3 Policy teams to the Washburn Rural Invitational in Topeka, Kansas on September 15-16. My cost estimation for that tournament is $68.50 per student. This estimation does not include the cost of food. A safe guess would be to budget $30 per tournament day for food, particularly with travel tournaments. Washburn Rural is a Friday-Saturday tournament, so the students going will miss most of school that Friday. We will have to be in Topeka by 3PM, so we will leave from Roosevelt at 10AM, or after whichever block ends closest to that time.

So far we have 12 students signed up for the Valley tournament on September 23-25. Homecoming is that Saturday, but in years past students interested in going to homecoming who have gone to the tournament have always made it, so fear not! One of our Public Forum teams was invited to the Round Robin and will be participating in that on Friday the 22nd, which is very exciting! Note that the 25th is a Monday--the tentative tournament schedule that has been posted has quarterfinals and onwards of Policy on Monday morning and afternoon, so Policy teams attending should be prepared to have to miss school on Monday. Public Forum will be done on Sunday. This tournament will be $42.50 per student, and we'll need the parents or students to get themselves to the tournament Saturday and Sunday morning! I will create carpool signup sheets and have them at practice starting this week.
