Important note from Sue Boesen Copple, Tournavelt Concessions Chair (and a person deserving of big thanks for stepping up to take this on!):

Hello Roosevelt Speech & Debate Families!

The annual Roosevelt Speech and Debate tournament (known as “Tournavelt”) will take place in less than two weeks on October 17-18.   We expect over 250 students and 50 judges to attend the 1 1/2 day tournament.   We need your help in stocking and staffing concessions, as all concession profits will go back to the Speech & Debate fund.

We’re asking you to volunteer your time and items.   We’re also asking that you respond by Friday of this week (October 10) so we can determine which items will need to go on the ‘purchase’ list.   If you’re unable to provide items, please consider a donation (in a sealed envelope delivered by your student to Mrs. McCool).

Please go to the following link at VolunteerSpot and sign up for items and your shift(s) today.   Here’s how it works:

   1. Click this link to go to our invitation page on VolunteerSpot: http://vols.pt/C3Mo4o
   2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot.)
   3. Sign up! Choose your shift working the concessions as well as to bring items. VolunteerSpot will send you an automated confirmation and a reminder two days before the event.

Note that VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact Sue Copple at boesencopple@yahoo.com or at 515-277-4730 and you will be signed up manually.

Tournavelt is known for its great baked items and home-made entrees for judges - so please fill in those baked items and crockpot requests first (along with your time-shift).   We anticipate having you drop off most items Friday morning but will send out an email closer to the time with exact details (we’ll make it easy so you don’t even have to get out of your car!)

For students who wish to help in concessions that aren’t already committed to other areas of the tournament - you can receive service hour credit.   Thanks in advance and please contact either of us with any questions.
