Senior Max Pilcher has accepted an offer to compete at the University of Iowa in their policy debate program next year. He will receive their debate scholarship to compete. Max is the second Roosevelt student in four years to compete for the Hawkeyes. Taylor Yocom ('10) competed for Iowa for three seasons before her academic schedule reached the point she needed to hang it up.
Iowa this past year made the Top 16 at the NDT (National Debate tournament) before losing to the University of Houston.
Iowa became super interested in Max following his quarterfinal round at All Iowa Finals in March when Roosevelt was judged by one of the Iowa coaches. Once they saw Max in action, the deal came together quickly. Congratulations to Max Pilcher!
Once we have paperwork for max, we will schedule a signing date for him.
