Sorry for the long post but I want to be sure we have bases covered! All students attending need to have permission slips and in some cases (they know whom) a health form on file with debate.
Bus leaves at ten am from Roosevelt and ten thirty from Lincoln. Coach Nate and Mary Johnson leave at ten from Roosevelt. We will stop at the outlet mall McDonalds for lunch and then on to the Iowa House Hotel. R-Hearts distributed on the bus and to students not on the bus at team meeting.
There will be seven students with Coach Nate and three with Johnson's.
Nate: Nosa, Tappel, Jappel, Akanksha, Jackson, Max Johnston and Shivanni are in Nate's vehicle. We might trade that around a little in the end to get CX partners together.
Johnson's: Sarah, Rubi and Christine
Team meeting in Strong's room (all 41 of you) shortly after arrival in Iowa City.
Speech starts at 4:30 with draw events. We will not know breaks until very late on Friday night-maybe 11:30pm.
Semi Finals and Finals of speech on Friday am...long 24 hour period with awards about 1:30. Still don't know the awards room assigned to us but I will share with parents coming down on Friday as soon as I know.
Friday: Mary Johnson is driving Reid Wade and Emma Weddle down to Iowa Citt departing at 11am from Roosevelt.
Friday after speech awards: Christine, Sarah, Rubi, Ayzhan, Miranda G, Miranda V, Marjorie, and Rizan all return with two drivers: Mary Johnson and Jenifer Nellans. Should depart close to three and return at five to the north Roosevelt parking lot.
Friday afternoon and night and Saturday am: prelims in debate. PM on Saturday out rounds begin. Awards around five pm...we will not roll the bus until we can which is likely to be around 7-7:30pm. It will depend upon how many Roosevelt and Lincoln debaters are alive in late rounds. We have ten seats for those reallylate if that happens. So we will roll the bus just as soon as we can.
Hopefully everyone is back around 10pm on Saturday night.
Make sure your student has my phone # to text if they leave campus to eat: 515-202-4078 and coach Nate's 515-210-2159.
