The tournament is at four sites and we are difficult to reach during the tournament. Your students will be exceptionally busy so don't be surprised you don't hear from them until late after competition. Rounds last until 8pm on Saturday. If you need to communicate with a coach--please text!!! We are all buried in judging assignments.
Also judging for Roosevelt: Katie Minks (VLD) Becky Hall (SC) and Michael Cummings Aunt who lives nearby (VPF). Harrison Hayward withdrew from judging because of medical problems with his back. That costs us an extra $400 but that is the way it goes. There is no avoiding the fee.
Des Moines Lincoln is accommodating Roosevelt in the following mannor--providing transportation to and from the PF building on Sat and Sunday and perhaps home for the PF kids. PF parents need to know that it is possible our students will be riding with Jesse Meyer (head Coach of Lincoln) part or all of the way to Des Moines. This is a huge savings for internal transportation at the tournament in that it limits wasted time in getting kids on the road after their divisions are completed.
Likewise, we accommodate Des Moines Schools in many ways at tournaments as well. This is DMPS working for the greater good of the DMPS community. It just so happens at this trip, Lincoln is accommodating us. They are also transporting one of our judges to and from Chicago because Lincoln has a late departure Friday allowing her to complete her work shift at Wells Fargo. Lincoln wont be leaving till about three pm due to student interviews for college.
We will release vehicles to come home as we can fill them at various sites. One vehicle will not leave until late and that is likely mine. Right now we would anticipate the latest arrival back in Des Moines to be 1am. Students ARE expected to be in school on Monday. We are not excusing them for Monday even with a late return. You should hear from your students by six pm on Sunday as to pick up time estimates for that vehicle.
Also, please remember to be at Roosevelt ON TIME for pickup because we also have two rental vehicles that have to be returned in the middle of the night as well. Don't make us wait PLEASE!
