Three Roosevelt debate students had amazing weekends in the always rough and tough Valley Mid America Cup. The tournament is a TOC bid tournament with students from at least 15 states. Our kids faced students from Washington State, California, New York City and elsewhere. Roosevelt highlights included:
Lily Nellans and Luke Theuma teamed up in Pubic Forum Debate and lost the championship round to Millard West of Omaha on a 3-2 ballot. Both students earned their bids to the TOC.
Emma Weddle seeded 20th in a huge field of hundreds of LD students but ended up losing her bid round and did not receive a bid to the TOC. But an amazing performance from Emma and our best LD showing at Valley since 1999.
Nellans won the huge weapon (speaker's gavel) as the Public forum top speaker with Theuma third best speaker.
Congrats Riders for starting off the season well. About 25 Roosevelt students competed.
