Nathan Leys finished 116th in the country in total debate points at the end of his junior season. He should be in the Top 25 or close to it at the start of this next school year. Nathan has indicated he is not trying to be an All American but he may well have a great shot at it. Lily Nellans and Kayleigh Courard Hauri are just off the list of the top 150 in the country in points. It takes being in the top 25 at the end of a season to finish as a high school All American. Right now Lily also has a huge opprotunity in front of her next season as a junior. Amazing!!!!!
The have been only two All Americans in Iowa Speech and Debate history--one at Burlington in 2000 and 2001. Coach Billy was an All American in 2008 at Roosevelt. I am hoping that this next season brings some more excitement to the program!!!!!!
