Right now my suburban is scheduled to leave as soon as school is out for Apple Valley, MN where we will spend the night at the Grandstay Hotel and compete on Saturday in the Mini-Apple Speech tournament. We should be back in Des Moines between nine and ten pm.
However, there is a significant rain.snow system headed our way on Friday and Saturday. So kids will be told at team meeting to be ready to leave:
1). Early is so advised
2). Be prepared to be cancelled if it looks that bad
3). Bring a few extra clothes if we go just in case.
Right now it looks like we should be able to compete and return without too much of a driving challenge.
The worst of this should be in North Central Iowa and well after we leave on Friday allowing nearly 24 hours for it to end and get cleaned up. So for now, the trip is on.
