Roosevelt brought ten students to UNI for the weekend-many of them novices- and competed well in both speech and debate. We had four (yes, only four) speech entries, won two championships and a third place and took third in sweeps behind Iowa City West and Jessup. Carolyn Hall won EX, Aubrey Davidson won in OI and Becky Hall was third in EX. That was enough to edge out 15 other schools in speech.
The Appel boys had a great novice policy tournament finishing in 5th place in a sizeable field. One of them was 4th best speaker. Henry Winber and Emma Weddel won their first varsity matches in PF.
We are at Indianola next weekend.
