Only 4 Roosevelt debaters attended the Brindley Tournament at UNI this past weekend. All fared well:
The Hou sisters were 5-2 and defeated in semi finals by Iowa City West. The team that beat them has middle school policy experience and a fair amount of debate under their belts already this season. It was our first Novi Policy test. The girls lost in semi's in a highly competitive round that could have gone either way.
Harrison and Samantha were both 3-3 in LD facing the huge number of Valley LD kids in the field. In fact, Sam faced no one but Valley students. Sam was the 5th best speaker and Harrison 3rd. We just didn't win any key rounds when we needed them. On the other hand, we weren't embarrassed by anyone either. A round with Anna Lyons was competitive.
