I just returned from the National College Individual events tournament (AFA Nats) in Eau Claire this weekend where I got to be with Billy and his team after Billy's final round appearance in Extemp. George Mason University finished 4th overall. While there might have been a little disappointment with the 4th place finish (they were 2nd last year)...Billy and three of his team
members made AFA history when the top 4 finishers in extemp were all from the same school!
That has never happened in any event at nationals...there have been four from the same school before...but they never finished 1-2-3-4. When the awards crowd of about 1000 realized what happened there was a standing ovation for the 4. Billy finished 3rd in extemp.
