Finally I have some packets that we can analyze from the tournament this past weekend. Pf:
Team BC seeded 4th with a 4-1 record losing their final round to another Indianola team. Rachael was 5th in spker pts and Kayleigh 4th. Team LS seeded 5th at 4-1. They lost their 4th round to Ankeny...Nick was 9th best spker. Team HR seeded 8th with a 3-2 record. They were the best of the 3-2 teams in points. They dropped rounds 4 and 5 to Indianola and Ankeny.
Harrison Hayward was the 8th best performing speaker in the tournament. Indianola RW picked up several wins against us which I don't understand at all!
In LD land: Taylor Yocom seeded 10th and Samantha Gerleman 13th. Taylor Yocom was the 7th best speaker in the field. Bad luck entered into the LD field for us as well. Taylor lost round 1 to the eventual State Champion. Just tough draws vs. Ankeny tormented us the entire tournament. I read Taylor's ballot vs. Sarah...it could have been just as easily 2-1 our way. Each debater gets a clear win from a judge and the toss up judge decides against Taylor.
In Congress: We didn't get a complete packet. But it is clear our kids performed very well. Even Heaven Shaffer scores a fair number of points in round two and was 5th from the bottom in her first major tournament. Good job here as well.
