Here is a brief overview of the parents meeting last night:
1). Adele Crane and Amelia Martin each received their certificates for Academic All American
2). We had a long and detailed discussion about budget cuts both THIS YEAR AND NEXT YEAR
and what those impacts are for debate. While we have no official notice from the school of cuts that will directly impact our program--we know that will come about November 15th.
3). We announced that a family had put up $1500 in cash for a challenge grant to motivate parents to match it to pick up a quick three thousand for the program. While I am happy to say it was matched last night--we talked in terms that we will need about $5000 from parents this year. We deposited $2150 this morning and we know of another $1500 out there in promises.
That leaves us short $1450. PLEASE UNDERSTAND OUR URGENT NEED AND IF YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE ANYTHING (EVEN $25) PLEASE DO SO SOON OR CONTACT A COACH!
4). Some time was spent on organization for the Dowling tournament in December. We need parents to volunteer for various jobs during the Fri afternoon-Saturday-Sunday tournament.
Contact Beth Flannery to schedule concession times. Deb Chiodo will head up the judges lounge again. There will be more information about the jobs and times shortly.
5). We will be doing a Barnes and Noble fundraiser on December 15th. In addition, there will be a Creative Memories fundraiser which will be communicated to you soon.
6). We gave a very positive team report to the parents.
There were 13 families who attended the meeting and another 12 who sent emails indicating they couldn't attend.
Thank you for your support!
