Both Middle School debate teams did very well this past weekend at the Middle School Tournament in Indianola. The Calanan team of Claire Yocom and Lily Nelans...both 7th graders quarter finaled after seeding 9th overall in the pool. They lost their QF round on a 3-0 ballot. The lead the tournament as #1 seed through 3 rounds.
The Merrill team of 7th grader Graham Oman and 8th grader CeCe Ver Ploeg went 2-2 and finished in the middle of the pack...they lost their first two rounds to two teams who advanced and then came back to win their last two rounds.
Overall a very good showing on a difficult topic.
