Anna McDermott and Billy Strong are at the American Forensic Association Individual Events Championships at Akron University this weekend. BOTH ARE HAVING GREAT TOURNAMENTS.
Anna, a sophomore at UNI, just finished a quarter final in Duo Interp. I don't know how many qualified entries were in Duo but I'm thinking around 200 which broke from 3 prelims to quarters.
Billy, a freshman at George Mason, has now completed two quarter finals:
Impromptu and Persuasion. I heard Impromptu drew nearly 500 qualified entries and broke only to quarters!
Both Billy and Anna failed in their main events: extemp and poetry.
Neither will know anything more this evening. Semi finals are in the morning, finals in the afternoon and awards tomorrow evening. Mason remains solidly in the hunt for another Top 5 team performance. Western Kentucky leads the pack again.
