Today we received notification that there is a trophy to pick up at Dowling that is our's for a year. It is the District Trophy for having accumulated the most national qualifier rounds of debate. The rules are the trophy is displayed for one year and then presented to the next winning school unless it is the third time won by a school. Then the trophy is retired to that school.
Roosevelt does have in its collection of trophies a retired one from years ago. This is our first trophy win since then (I'm thinking 1989). So, in order to keep it forever, we have to keep up what we've been doing the past few years!
Anyway, congratulations to everyone for their hard work. This is actually a very nice win because it has been so long since Roosevelt has won it.
We also we very close to edging Valley out of the District Sweepstakes award. So, even though there were a lot of disappointments at Qualifier, the team did VERY, VERY well.
