When and during Qualifier this weekend there are couple of very important items of note:
). Ethics matter. While you will be scouted and asked to share information with others please do not. I do not want to be facing the committee on an ethics issue involving any of you. Not a pleasant experience. Just use your heads and follow our State tournament guidelines and you will be just fine. Be pleasant and welcoming to our guests from other schools but do not share flows and information.
). Cleaning up. Plan RIGHT NOW on being here later on Saturday. You already know we host, have to clean up and do room checks. We need as many of you here as possible from about 5pm on. We will get rooms closed down as quickly as possible but it takes your help. If you are not in qualifier or if you are eliminated...change into jeans and help out with concessions, security and room cleaning. remember your coaches will be stressed with not only running the building but coaching those still alive.
). Patience and attitude. This is a stressful tournament on coaches, seniors and juniors. Please support them and especially understand if they are abnormally short or not paying attention to you. They have a lot on their minds. We have a lot of students who have never seen a qualifier so please understand this is different from other tournaments.
). When it is all over. We are thrilled for any Roosevelt student who cleared and there will likely be some tears from those who didn't. This is an emotional event. We are also thrilled for any student from any school who clears. No grumping around. Don't be overheard complaining and check your feelings until our guests have left.
). Never enter a room in which you do not belong. If you aren't competing in the room don't enter unless we have cleared it for cleaning. We NEVER open a door in qualifier unless specifically directed by the tournament committee. Students don't touch ballots, talk to judges, etc. Spend your spare time in the cafeteria.
