Friday's Scwann's Trip

Bus rolls at 430am be on the bus by 415am!!!! We cannot hold this bus for late students!!!!!

Bus will stop likely at Albert Lea and Worthington for two breaks going up. Similar breaks will be offered coming back. Remember we have a Dowling student with us and treat her as if she were your fellow team member.

We will arrive in Marshall Mn around 11am or shortly after. Hopefully we can change at the hotel and drive to the high school. We will eat at the school and eat dinner anywhere we can find afterwards. There is a light breakfast at the school available from concessions and lunch for Saturday. We will eat anywhere we can coming back. Meals are your expense.

Hotel: Americ Inn, 1406 Lyon, Marshall, MN 507-537-9424.
Transport: Mid-Iowa Charter (as usual)

Novices: This is a very large event about 1100 entries. If you need help, call or text a coach knowing we might be judging...if you cannot reach us--find a team mate in the media center in the extemp prep area for help. Marshall High School, while sizeable, isn't that big and is laid out pretty well. Its is very modern and all on one floor. Some events may require a shuttle bus to SW Minnesota State University accross the street. Not a big deal the bus runs constantly.
We won't know if that includes us or not until tomorrow.

Novices: Know your charter bus. Don't get on the wrong bus. Its already happened if you do but you really don't want to do that. There is Roosevelt, Rosemont, Roseville, and Sioux Falls Roosevelt in attendance every year. You'll hear about it for the next few years. It is easy to make a mistake. Use your head! Walking out and staying with another Roosevelt student while finding our bus would be smart.

We will not leave you in Marshall. If you can't find our bus CALL a coach. If you get on the wrong bus--there are warning signs you are on the wrong bus: as you get on do you recognize the driver, did you ask him Roosevelt in Des Moines? do you know anyone on the bus? You get the idea...this isn't hard. But remember if you are on the wrong bus--it might leave before we do while we are waiting for you! (Parents Note: we do take attedance at every stop).

Novices: Some of what you are doing is learning on the job. Don't be afraid. This is the first speech tournament of the year in Minnesota. There are LOTS of students just like you--not fully ready to go. So don't be nervous! This is one reason we go to this event.
