Remember, there is no meeting this week because of Finals Week. Please study and do well on your finals. Also, remember that we are not going to Omaha Westside this weekend for numerous reasons. Instead, we have practice time this weekend that at least all who signed up for Westside should be able to make time to come in for and get things done at least on Friday or Saturday if not both days.
Practice time do definitely need to be scheduled for things like interp and oratory as A LOT should get done this weekend and the following week on all events. All of this should happen in the next week or so. I would prefer to get a jump on this ASAP, but I understand the desire to relax after finals.
Congress--The bills at IHSSA will be resurfacing at later tournaments. We need to make sure we have some information for our chosen side and at least some ideas for speeches. We did do pretty well at IHSSA, but there is always room for improvement. While people do not necessarily look at Congress as their favorite event, we do still need to have things prepared.
Extemp--All extempers should try to make time to come in and get things done. The files need to be gone through. Old stuff should go, new stuff needs to be printed and put in the files. Multiple speeches need to be given by all extempers.
PF--Billy's packet and base cases will not be coming until Monday, but there are two evidence packets available very soon. We need to start to get our own independent ideas for cases. Assistance for cases and some topic help will be very much available and would be a good idea to start to brainstorm with each other.
LD--Case updates, extension blocks and answer to blocks would be a good idea, as well as a possible scrimmage would be a very good idea.
Policy--Writing frontlines to common arguments, Blocks need to be written for new positions we've heard and we are in dire need of 1AR and 2AR blocks for our advantages. We also have some additional things that we need to consider in a conversation that needs to happen. j
Oratory--We need to schedule some time to read, listen to and watch oratories performed. At minimum, we should be going over them to see where we need to emphasize things and gestures to support our discourse.
Interp--We need to be looking at the piece, working on memorizing, blocking, voice work, character mannerisms, etc.
