A lot of our younger students were in action this weekend at East. Here are some of the results:
Extemp: Mike Flannery was the tournament champion, Amelia Martin 3rd, Sam Roeder 4th, Catherine Chiodo 8th and Aida Ver Ploeg 9th. It was the largest speech event at East.
OI: Tess Yocom was 3rd and Samantha Gerleman (Fr) in her first effort was 6th.
PFD: The team of Sam Roeder and Noah Stimel finished in 8th place beaten in quarters.
Mike Flannery and Tess Yocom finished 9th, one speaker pt out of the eliminatin rounds.
Adriane DeMuth and Aida Ver Ploeg were 11th.
Congratulations to Emily Schott who became the first TRHS LD student to win a Varsity championship since 1999. All of our Varsity LD students are showing great promise.
Taylor Yocom easily faced the toughest draw of the field and didn't break but nevertheless got a huge win over Waterloo East and prevented him from advancing into eleminations.
Caroline Alexander in her first LD experience prooved she could put up a fight as well. Caroline broke to quarters before being defeated.
Harrison hayward was paired with an Indianola student in Varsity Policy. It was an interesting tournament for Harrison but he finished 3rd overall.
