The following information is important:
The blog has been temprorily turned back on. It will be OFF several more times in the coming two days as we retest the RSS feeder to be sure of a couple of things. It would appear that our security testing does work and that the email functions of the blog do work despite the new security improvements to the site.
On Wednesday afternoon the site will be permantly turned off to public view. Your student will know how to access the blog and you need to obtain from your student that information. GET IT FROM THEM! Otherwise, you will have to call a coach for the information. We will also distribute the information at the parents meeting on the 27th.
Since my last posting, I have recieved a couple of interesting emails. One is from an unidentifed student at another school. Another is from a Roosevelt student who we removed from the blog not knowing who it was and why they were on the blog.
The non Roosevelt student felt badly we caught them and sincerely apologied for their actions. They meant no harm. There was an admission to downloading materials (as we knew and know about in other cases as well). The student was amazed that we were as far advanced in our student/parent communication as we were. I have accepted the apology and it will go no further.
The Roosevelt student will be seeing me (I hope soon) and joining the program. She was merely following our program and got the address from the coaches earlier this year. We had terminated her activity not recognizing her account.
There is still clean up work being done on the RSS feed file and email files. I suspect more people will be terminated until we get a full handle on how badly our site was breached by those in other programs.
Total cost to be secure our blog has been about 15 hours of coaches time and $149.
