Parents note: The debate season begins this next weekend with about 10 students entered in the WDM Valley Mid-America Cup. This is a varsity only national level event with teams from all over the nation. Last year we did very well producing a semi finalist in PFD and the PFD speaker of the tournament. (And yes, we know, it is Homecoming weekend).
From this point on--debate coaches will be in action every weekend with some or most of the team. We will get Thanksgiving off and then go until Christmas break. This is a tough grind for coaches.
As we drive students home from events--there is one very big thing you can do to help us out!
We have our kids call for pick up rides about 20 minutes from the school. We need you waiting for us at Roosevelt not just leaving your house when we arrive. If you are a novice parent, you will quickly learn debate coaches put in a huge amount of hours. We are exhausted when we return and the sooner we can get home the better. Each year we end up baby sitting for a couple of kids an extra half hour or longer late in the night. Please! Help us out by arriving on time or before we do. Thanks for your consideration!
