Joseph Nye of Harvard who originally authored the concept almost 7 years ago did so in a different world than we face today. What is going on in Eastern Europe right now is an amazing political/military game of control. With the Ukrainian announcement today of willingness to share missile sites with Europe and the US, one wonders what mess Russia has really created for themselves and if their only way out isn't military might.
Every PFD debater should be prepared to explain why soft power doesn't work...Russia has just proven the case for us.
