I have carefully reviewed the likely points earned this weekend for our top 3 NFL point students and believe the following is correct:
Olivia Sandbothe is 1 point away from 1500 and is maxed out of speech. She stands at 1499.
Chris Oman had a huge tournament point wise and should be at 1189. Oman can clip Sam Fairfield for 2nd all time at Roosevelt before he graduates. It doesn't appear he can ever catch Billy since he didn't participate as a freshman. But if Spencer Sheaff lets anything get away from him, Chris can overhaul Sheaff. I think a lot of TRHS kids would be pleased to see that happen after this weekend!
Billy Strong, who had been maxed out all season, earns his first points of the year and a boat load of them! Billy should be sitting at 1964.
Billy, this weekend, also shattered the All Time Iowa NFL Point Record held by Jon Quinn of Dowling (2006). There are three students in the district who have the ability to run down Billy's record (whatever it is after Nationals). They are Spencer Sheaff, Dakota Johnanson and Amelia Martin.
Sheaff damaged his opportunity to beat Billy out by not earning as many points as he could. Johanson had a poor qualifier and may have seriously damaged his opporunity. Amelia, being a sophomore, may have the best chance of anyone!
Now consider this: I would estimate Sheaff's career ending around 2032, Johnason's ending around 2091, Oman's ending around 1913 and Strong's ending around 2091. If that is reasonably correct, Roosevelt needs to block Dakota from going to Nationals in Congress to protect our own both now and for Amelia's sake two years from now. That would remove Dakota as a threat to the Iowa record.
Amelia qualifying as a sophomore to Nationals keeps her in the All Time hunt but it is way to early to predict her point career.
