For those of you who did not attend last evening's banquet, here are some highlights:
1). It was attended by 61 people--10 more than reservations!
2). A new series of major awards was introduced last night:
----The George Carpeter IV Award for the best orator (Anna McDermott) and the Carpenter's were present to present it!
----The Stephen Davis Award for the best LD Debater in the program (Judy Crane).
These two awards are named for our two National Champions!
We added a series of new major awards and 3 of them were named for their first time reciepients:
----The Sam Fairfield Award (Highest NFL Point Total in the program each year)
----The Judy Crane Award (Best Debater Award--to be based on passion, success and desire but not based only on record)
----The Anna McDermott Award (Best Interpretative Speaker)

Co-Captains Awards--(covering two years) Sam Fairfield and Judy Crane

presented only when a student leaves the program or has achieved the highest level one can
achieve in regular season NFL points
We also presented for the first time ever--two ACADEMIC All-American Awards which went to Sam and Billy.
10 students lettered this past season (meeting the 250 point requirement to letter): Bianca Flores, Adele Crane, Amelia Martin, Chris Oman, and Liz McCabe were first time letter winners. Olivia Sandbothe (2nd), Billy Strong (3rd), Anna McDermott (3rd), Judy Crane (4th) and Sam Fairfield (4th) were the returning letter winners.
New Co-Captains elected for '07-08 were presented: Olivia Sandbothe and Billy Strong
Dinner was great at Palmer's Deli on Ingersoll and hopefully, we've found a permanent home for future banquets.
