The last major event of the year will be the All -Iowa Finals at the University of Iowa March 8-9-10. Please read carefully:
Speech students leave at noon on the 8th (Thursday) and compete from 3pm-10pm Thursday
and from 7:30am-4pm on Friday.
Debate students not doing speech will leave about noon on Friday the 9th and compete the rest of Friday and all day Saturday returning late Saturday night.
It will take a lot of parental judges and drivers to haul 24 students to Iowa City and back on varing schedules. This will be a logistical nightmare.
Roosevelt has a chance of being 2nd, 3rd or 4th for the first time in years at State sweeps. We won't be able to overcome the Dowling numbers. Anna McDermott cannot attend because of the Roosevelt play. Her abscence could cost us a lot of sweep points. But your coaches would be thrilled with a top 5 finish and that appears likely.
There is a charge of $25 per night for the Iowa House hotel. There will be an additional charge of about $15 per student for paid judges. We are pricing a charter to see if that's feasible or not.
